Book First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: Good Minus. 1st Edition. Stated 'First Printing.' Also 'First Evergreen Black Cat Edition' which was the first large market paperback edition. B-370 and $1.50 price are on the front cover. As you can see in the photos, there is some light soiling on the covers. There is also a somewhat unevenly closed tear on the front and spine. There also a few light creases including one at the front top corner and the rear bottom corner, and there is a bit of wear at the top edge of the spine. The page edges are yellow. There is a spot of soiling at the top page edge that doesn't migrate to the actual pages. There are also a few spots on the middle page edge, again not migrating. There is a nick at the middle page edge which in turn created a nick at the edge of five consecutive pages. The bottom page edges clean. The book is pretty square and the spine is pretty straight. The binding is very solid from cover with nicely tight pages from cover to cover. Both covers are solidly bound. The closed tear on the front cover repeats itself on the inside cover and there is a little shadow of it on the first few pages of the book. The pages are in very nice condition. They are very clean. Scrolling through, I haven't seen any conspicuous soiling at all. There is a light and uniform toning. The crease at the top corner of the front cover repeats very lightly over some early pages. Page 13-14 has a tiny tear (1/16th") and its top edge. Some late pages have a teeny tiny crease just above the tip of their bottom corners. There are no markings in the book. No attachments of any kind. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. Part of a review by Josephine Hendin of the Saturday Review is on the first page: 'Burrough's genius is for a bare, erotic frenzy that careens in and out of logic, or twists in and out of fantasy. Burroughs has the gift for making you hear, smell, and feel psychic process as a physical force. Wild Boys is a book illusions, written as a series of films of past, present, and future projected simultaneously on several screens. There are films of memory, and funny flicks of a future American crusade against (the wild boys). There are even porny, penny arcade peep shows. But what explodes from every film is Burrough's passion for purging the soul of old torments.' If you can't make out the rear cover, Norman Mailer thinks Burroughs is possessed by genius and James Martin of the Los Angeles Times considers The Wild Boys his boldest experiment and, perhaps, finest achievement, the work of any brilliant mind that has mellowed but remained very much in tune with the crackle of the universe, a nightmare trip through time, (with) passages of Swiftian satire alternating with autobiographical reflections, nostalgic and pure.'.
