No marks of any kind. All sixteen plates are in original condition including cover The Woman Bathing 1654. Rembrandt was born in 1606 at Leyden, in the small Calvinist republic of the United Netherlands, which covered the territory of present-day Holland. Six pages of text containing a brief biography of Rembrandt and a description of each of the 16 Plates. This art book has a protective vinyl covering that protected the book. The backing for the last six plates has come loose from the binding with no affect to the plates. All sixteen plates are in original condition including the cover plate The Woman Bathing dated 1654. Rembrandt was born in 1606 at Leyden, in the small Calvinist republic of the United Netherlands, which covers the same territory of present-day Holland. Rembrandt was determined to become a painter and his earliest dated paintings at the age of twenty he has formed independent views about art in general and about his own professional aims as well. He is 25 when he moves to Amsterdam where, as the result of rapidly growing prosperity, people made and spend money easily. He marries a well-to-do girl, Saskia, in 1634. In 1642 Saskia dies leaving him with an infant son. His financial affairs were always troublesome. He died the year after his son Titus died. This is the sad story of Rembrandt. Who will venture to say what part of his misery was his own fault, what part was the result of adversity from without? To us today, he speaks through his work alone, and it is a powerful and clear voice that speaks. There are really 16 Full Color Prints as the name says because Plate One is A Woman Bathing 1654 and is on the cover. Size: 11 1/4" x 14 1/2".
