Anyone interested in fishing has heard about Langer's Flying Lure and is probably sick to death of the hours of infomercials about it. The gizmo's designed to fly backward in the water, so that an angler can get it right in front of a fish's nose, even if the critter is nestled under a dock, in a tangle of tree roots, or in a spot unreachable by conventional tackle. Fortunately, Langer has the forbearance not to make this a book-length infomercial. Yes, he devotes a hunk of the text to the lure's merits and doesn't hesitate to shout that it can do just about anything and catch any fish under any circumstance. But the latter part of the book is worth putting up with all that. This section is a distillation of how you actually go about catching fish, and while you can find such information in just about any fishing magazine or book, Langer makes his knowledge of it very readable.
