Best-selling author Steven Lubet shares his analytical skills training development with the student in this new Law School Edition of Modern Trial Advocacy.

Modern Trial Advocacy Law School Edition presents a realistic and contemporary approach to learning and developing trial advocacy skills with the addition of a new Trial Basics chapter. Dedicated to the law student, the Trial Basics chapter discusses what happens in a trial and the role the advocate plays. According to Lubet, an attorney must consider his or her duty to the client, the court, and the adversary for justice to prevail.

Also new in the law school edition are nearly 40 quick reference charts and checklists designed to guide the law student through the various aspects of trial. Some of these include:

Outline of a Trial
Admissibility Checklist
Summary of Objection Rules
Direct Examination Checklist
Offering an Exhibit at Trial
Cross Examination Checklist
Impeachment Rules Checklist
Expert Testimony Checklist
Opening Statement Preparation Checklist
Final Argument Structure

Throughout Modern Trial Advocacy Law School Edition Lubet provides a comprehensive introduction to trial law, tactics, and strategies as they apply to all phases of presenting the case. The book guides students from developing a winning case theory, through all phases of trial. Written in a clear, concise style that is attractive to students, Lubet instructs them on how to present their case as a story, and how to tell the story to the jury powerfully and persuasively.

From the Inside Flap:
"Steven Lubet's Modern Trial Advocacy Law School Edition is simultaneously theoretical and down-to-earth. It answers both the 'how to' and the 'why' questions about trial work with clear and well-illustrated examples.

"The book provides concrete examples for successful advocacy. Students will find Modern Trial Advocacy to be like a friend or a mentor who gives sound advice but who understands that advocates are individuals who must develop a unique style."--Molly O'Brien, Director of Advocacy Skills Programs, Emory University School of Law
