Turquoise Sanchez is a spoiled young lady. Raised by an indulgent guardian, Trace Durango, she has never wanted for anything. Although she’s incredibly rude to Rio Kelly, a poor but proud blacksmith, she’s kind and gracious to wealthy, powerful Senator Edwin Forester. Unfortunately, the Durangos have a decades-long feud with the Foresters, so Turquoise has to sneak around to see Edwin. Trace, of course, wants her to hook up with Rio. Although Gentry’s (Diablo, 2010) premise of Romeo and Juliet in the Wild West is a good one, and her background story of St. Patrick’s Brigade is a fascinating one, this book isn’t up to her usual, high standards. For example, her hero and heroine make love in red oleander, which is highly poisonous. --Shelley Mosley
