PreS. Following the pattern of her other popular titles such as Do Donkeys Dance? (2000), Walsh challenges preschoolers to demonstrate their knowledge of animal habitats. Even the youngest children will respond to her humor and silliness, beginning with the bright cover and the title's silly question. On each spread, Walsh asks whether goats live in nests, crocodiles in shells, giraffes in burrows, parakeets in bowls, and guinea pigs in webs. All of which will, of course, prompt preschoolers to shout, "NO!" As in her previous titles, Walsh ends the book with one question to answer in the affirmative: "Do fleas live in fur?" The vibrant colors applied over every inch of white space yield a simple and effective design. This book will be a winner for rowdy, group read-alouds or for one-on-one sharing. Kathy Broderick
