 A near half-centurycareer here at the University of Notre Dame has provided the opportunity towork with many thousands of undergraduate marketing students. Nothing is moresatisfying than to have the opportunity to help some of them land that firstjob, and to help many of them again later on, as they seek to transition that first position into a long and satisfying marketing career.
 
Through consultations with recruiters and former students, through testing recommendations of many professional career coaches, and through active trial and error with different techniques and approaches, we have developed a series of 6 steps - a systematic process--that many students have found useful in their search for that first,entry-level marketing job, and for advancing their careers in marketing over time.
 
Few students have actually used all 6 steps. That said, virtually all students who have sought help have found that the content of at least one of these steps has aided them significantly in the effort to find and capture that oft-times elusive first marketing position. 
 
The book offers suggestions for young marketing professionals, as well. In recent years, a seemingly larger and larger proportion of those seeking career assistance are young folks who graduated one to three years ago.
