About the Author:

Horace Albright went to Washington, D.C., in 1913 intending to work in the Interior Department for one year. Two decades later, he had established the National Park Service on a solid foundation and had served for four years as its second Director.
Russ Dickenson, a 39-year veteran of the National Park Service, searved as Directory from 1980 to 1985. During this period Russ saw through the Park Restoration and Improvement Program.
Bill Mott entered the Park Service in 1933, and served as Director of the California State Parks System for eight years. Bill was brought out of retirement to become the National Park Service Director from 1985 to 1989.
