Modern Bombers and Attack Planes (Military Aircraft Series) - Hardcover

Grade 5-8-- Aviation and military history fans will be pleased with Sullivan's descriptions of the design and use of 13 bombers and attack planes. Among the U. S. aircraft discussed are the B-52, the B-1B Lancer, the A-6 Intruder, and the B-2 Stealth. The Dassault-Breguet Mirage IV and the Panavia Tornado IDS are two of the European planes covered, and several of the Tupolev series from the former Soviet Union are also introduced. A fact sheet at the beginning of each chapter gives a brief description of each plane. The prime contractor is listed, but the country of origin is not mentioned. The text reads easily, especially given its technical nature. Illustrations are plentiful, well captioned, and documented. Unfortunately, only the cover photos are in color resulting in a format that is not very visually exciting. The text concludes with a listing of aircraft designations, abbreviations, and acronyms.
