Charlotte Doyle, the author of several picture books, came to writing for children in midlife, when a letter to a child unexpectedly turned into a story. Nadine Bernard Westcott, the illustrator of more than eighty picture books, says she actually enjoys grocery shopping. "My daughter was a perfect child until she hit the supermarket, whereupon she would automatically self-destruct!"
