Enid Blyton died in 1968 but remains one of the best-known and best-loved writers of children's stories. She is consistently voted a children's favourite in author polls. Sarah Greene relates this story of a runaway girl in an easy-going fashion, complete with childlike innocence and anger appropriate for a young audience. Greene portrays the seven self-appointed young detectives in a British accent with a single voice, without differentiating genders. One sibling, determined to foil their investigation, creates exasperating dead-end clues. Greene creates drama and keeps listeners engrossed until the unexpected conclusion.
