Hazel “Bourne” Carter was born on the beautiful Caribbean island of Trinidad, in a little village called Palo Seco, but now resides in Brooklyn, New York. The gift of poetry has always been in Hazel, who wrote her first poem as a very young child. Hazel admits that her first poem was a bit raw and unpolished. But Hazel later perfected her gift when, in 2008, she was given the opportunity to read the weekly announcements at her local Church, International Christian Center. Hazel soon transformed the mundane reading of the weekly announcements by adding her own poetic flair and performance to it. Since then, Hazel has written several poems, sixty-eight of which are contained in this book.
