Voices of Advocacy in American Democracy is intended to provide a variety of viewpoints on the workings of our political system. This reader is divided into three main units: 1) Foundations of American Democracy 2) Institutions of American Democracy 3) Participation in American Democracy. In compiling this anthology, there are three objectives in mind. The first objective is to achieve ideological balance. The second objective is to compile readings that are reflective of the gallimaufry of perennial and current issues facing the American polity. The final objective is to offer both theoretical and practical commentary on American government and politics.
