The text is on various levels of difficulty, from short and simple to longer and richly detailed, but all could be interpreted to small children. The elegant illustrations in dreamy soft-toned watercolors show many moods, from lively and joyful to pensive and peaceful. All are filled with meticulous details and expertly keyed to the word picture of each poem. The familiar world of cozy toys and country kitchens blends with the exotic ones of igloos, tepees and huts. A high interest level is maintained in the variety of settings and selections and the different ways in which the text and pictures are arranged on the pages.
