If the reader can rela te to E.J.'s life, that of a housewife, mother, part-time writer, daughter-in-law, friend - a wearer of all those hats we all juggle dail y, then they can put themselves in her situation and wonder, "What wo uld I do?" In this particular case, in NOT IN MY BACKYARD, a convict ed child molester has moved into the neighborhood with his family - after having served his time. Does he have the right to live there? If not there, where? The neighborhood is up in arms and E.J. is torn between the individual's right to freedom, and the safety of her own children and t hose of the community.
