Robyn Davidson was born in 1950 in a small Queensland country town. She is the author of Tracks, the account of her epic journey across the Australian desert with four camels, which won the 1980 Thomas Cook Travel Book Award; a collection of essays, Travelling Light; a novel, Ancestors, which was published in 1989 and was shortlisted for the Premier’s Award in Australia and Desert Places, the story of her travels with Indian nomads, which was published in 1996 and was shortlisted for the Thomas Cook Travel Book Award. She has travelled extenslvely throughout the world and currently divides her time between Australia, London, and India.
